Smashed window in a drunk rage

Laimonas Baltramaitis, Albert Street, Lurgan, admitted criminal damage to a window and doors on March 16 and using a public telecommunications system to send a message of a threatening or menacing nature.

The court heard that at 7pm police went to an address in Lurgan where they found a distressed female and the defendant standing outside on the pavement.

He was heavily intoxicated and there was blood dripping from his hands. A large window at the front of the property had been smashed. There was also damage to the front door and an internal door.

When interviewed he said he had been drinking heavily and accepted he broke the window.

The injured party decided to go and stay with a friend and that evening an intimidating phone call was made to her by the defendant. The phone rang again a few times but she did not answer the calls.

The case had been adjourned so a pre-sentence report could be obtained. A barrister for the defendant said he had anger issues with alcohol but since this incident he had not breached bail conditions and had not contacted his estranged wife.

Judge Kelly imposed a 12 month probation order with the condition Baltramaitis attends a relationship programme on a one to one basis.
