A dramatic rescue sprung into action on Sunday when a springer spaniel dog was being walked close to the cliff edge at Clare Park on Clare road in Ballycastle - and nosedived over the cliff edge!
The Coastguard was alerted and Belfast operations room dispatched Ballycastle cliff rescue team and a team from Coleraine to see if the spaniel could be rescued from the cliff where it had managed to land on a cliff ledge.
It was totally cut off with no hope of any safe passage back until it was rescued by cliff technicians from HM Coastguard.
The dog was sucessfully recovered from the cliff face and brought to safety before being re -nited with its owner.
HM Coastguard would remind the public about the danger of walking close to cliffs and remind anyone who sees anybody in difficulty to call 999 and ask for Coastguard.
