‘Sit-out’ and walk boosts two charities

Two leading cancer charities have benefitted from the endeavours of people in the Ballymoney area.

Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Care have both had their coffers boosted following a well-supported walk organised by Slimming World, Stranocum and Garvagh and a ‘sit-out’ in the centre of Ballymoney.

Jayne Workman, who runs the two centres, welcomed some 30 people to the Riverside Park where they embarked on a 3k walk in memory of loved ones who had suffered from cancer.

Jayne said she was delighted with the response and thanked everyone for taking part.

She also had praise for the Bush Tavern, Ballymoney, who had provided sandwiches.

Meanwhile, a stand at The Diamond in Ballymoney, a number of volunteers collected for Macmillan Cancer Care.

The money raised amounted to £2500 which delighted Samuel McClements and his wife. They have since presented the money to Macmillan Fundraising Manager Maria McGleenon and Macmillan Benefits Advisor Denise Ford with a huge cheque for £2,500 from his charity sit out.

Macmillan would like to say a massive to Samuel and all associated with the ‘sit-out’.
