The first of three cheques for charities in Northern Ireland has been presented by The Scenic Inn, Armoy.
The Northern Ireland fundraising manager for Muscular Dystrophy UK, Cathryn Gibson, accepted a cheque for £1,500 from Shirley McKinley and Steven McFetridge – the result of a two-night auction and dance at the Scenic.
Two other charities will also be presented with the same amounts – MacMillan Cancer Care and the N.I. Children’s Hospice.
The grand total of £4500 brings the Scenic’s charity donations since January 2013 to just over £70,000, a reflection of the commitment of the staff and the generosity of their customers.
Cathryn Gibson said she was “absolutely delighted” with the amount. “This is right up there with the top donations and we cannot thank Shirley and her staff enough for all their efforts. This money will go towards research and hopefully help towards finding a cure.
“We have a number of families in this area who have to deal with Muscular Dystrophy and we greatly appreciate financial donations from those who, like the Scenic, are willing to help.
Shirley McKinlay thanked all those who contributed to the event last year.
