Robbers armed with knife and handgun tied up occupants of house in Maghera

DETECTIVES in Magherafelt are appealing for information about an armed robbery that took place in the Tobermore Road area of Maghera last night (Wed 4th September).

A number of males, one thought to be armed with a handgun and a knife, entered a house at around 8.45pm and tied up the 47-year-old male occupant.

A second 51-year-old male arrived at the house a short time later and he too was tied up.

The robbers took a sum of money from a safe and personal items including laptops and watches. They made off in the

occupants’ car, a black Mercedes. The car was discovered this morning in Brough Road, Castledawson.

The occupants received minor wrist injuries and were treated for shock at the scene.

Detectives would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the car in the Maghera/Castledawson area last night or who has information about the robbery. The number to ring is 0845 600 8000.
