A MOYLE council official has rejected a claim from Ulster Unionist councillor Willie Graham that the recent international ploughing match at Bushmills was “never mentioned” by the local authority.
Caroline Carey said the ploughing match was “featured quite heavily” on the Council website and on facebook and there were links to other tourism sites.
The discussion came during a debate about promotion of tourism.
* Cllr Joan Baird (Ulster Unionist) said she would like to improvements to a path between Dunseverick and Portbradden saying walkers are re-routed onto a dangerous part of the road and “it is a miracle people are not killed”.
* Cllr Baird said plans for a trail for people to look at the history of the McDonnell clan is good and said Danny McKinley is doing good work on the subject.
* Cllr Baird said war graves can also attract visitors to the area and said she had spoken to an Australian visitor who travelled to Ballycastle on Remembrance Sunday to lay a wreath.
