Redpath welcomes Executive move to clear fly-tipping waste

Councillor Alexander Redpath has welcomed a Housing Executive move to clear fly tipping waste from land at Eglantine Court Lisburn.

The waste which consists of building waste and rubble, was dumped weeks ago.

Mr Redpath said, “I welcome the assurance from the Executive that the waste will be cleared before the end of the month.

“This type of building waste presents a hazard to local people especially children. If any other Lisburn residents are suffering from this sort of problem I would urge them to bring it to my attention.

“Whilst I welcome the fact that this waste is being cleared it must be remembered that the clearance is being funded out of the public purse.

“Local residents informed me that this waste was dumped on February 28 if anyone has any more information I would be grateful if you could bring it to the attention of the PSNI.

“Fly tipping is irresponsible, illegal and a blight on local communities.

“We cannot allow them to abrogate their responsibilities and pass on the problem.”
