PSNI compensation bill reaches £400,000
A total of 399,917 was spent by the PSNI compensating staff claiming personal injury and members of the public alleging wrongful arrest or assault by a police officer across Londonderry, Limavady, Strabane and Magherafelt.
Both PSNI officers and members of the public also received compensation for loss of property.

Hide AdA total of 84 compensation claims resulted in PSNI pay-outs over the three year period.
The Foyle District Command area suffered the largest bill with 173,835.62. This was followed by Strabane (103,791.58), Magherafelt (66,439.85) and Limavady (55,850.41).
Across the four areas personal injury claims by police officers accounted for 246,566.21 of the overall bill whilst claims by members of the public accounted for 137,900.
The remainder was paid to both police officers and members of the public for alleged damage to property.
The information was released by the PSNI in response to a Freedom of Information (FOI) request.
