Police warning over behaviour at Edenallotment '˜hang out'

PSNI Carrickfergus will be remaining vigilant at Eden's allotments following reports of anti-social activity.

Commenting on Facebook, a police spokesperson said: “When we first started to hear about young people in the allotments, we thought we maybe had a future Charlie Dimmock or Alan Titchmarsh in Carrickfergus.

“Unfortunately, if reports are anything to go by, then some of our young folk haven’t grown green fingers as first thought.

“Instead the allotments at Greenisland and Eden are being used as a bit of a hang out.

“Perhaps it’s because folk think they are out of the way of prying eyes and the police.

“Well, due to the anti-social behaviour being reported in these areas, amongst other things, police will be checking these locations regularly.”

Earlier this year, Eden Allotments were awarded a prestigious Green Flag Award for its high standards of a recreational area. The Green Flag is a benchmark national standard for parks and green spaces in the United Kingdom.
