Local councillor and member of the Policing and Community Safety Partnership, Alderman Paul Girvan, said he would be contacting senior police officers to discuss exactly what happened.

“I will be trying to find out more information regarding exactly what went on.

“There has been a strong police presence in the area since the incident was reported, so that should give people some reassurance,” he said.

Police have asked anyone who may have noticed anyone acting suspiciously in the area to contact them at Ballyclare Station on 0845 600 8000, or to call the Crimestoppers charity and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
