Pipers to parade through city centre for charity

OVER 100 pipers will parade through Lisburn this Saturday (March 10), helping to raise funds for charity.

Well-known bands from the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association (RSPBA) will leave the Island Civic Centre at 11.00am and parade through the city centre before pausing at the War Memorial for the laying of a wreath.

The parade is part of a fundraising campaign, organised by well-known businessman and former Councillor Mr Ned Falloon for the Royal British Legion, SSAFA Forces Help and Parkinson’s UK.

The Parade will leave the Civic Centre and move on to the Queens Road, Linenhall Street, Smithfield Street, Market Place, Antrim Street, Bachelors Walk, Railway Street, Castle Street and Seymour Street before returning to the Civic Centre via the Queens Road.

Deputy Mayor, Alderman William Leathem said that he was looking forward to enjoying the parade through the city centre and encouraged residents to come along and support this charity initiative.

“I would like to acknowledge the sterling work of Mr Falloon and his Organising Committee for all their hard work and hope residents will take the opportunity to come down to Lisburn on Saturday morning to enjoy this parade and support these very worthwhile charities,” said Mr Leathem.
