Over 1,500 residents without power in Ballyclare

Over 1,500 customers in Ballyclare are currently without electricity after a power cut hit the town.

The outage, which occurred at 10.25am today (Wednesday), is impacting on 1,540 Northern Ireland Electricity Networks (NIEN) customers in the Rashee Road area.

A spokesperson for NIEN said: “We have logged a fault for this area and will be assigning a repair team as soon as possible. The fault is due to equipment failure.”

The estimated restoration time is 2pm on August 19.

The constituency office of South Antrim MP Paul Girvan has been affected.

Posting on social media, the DUP representative said: “Businesses in Ballyclare have experienced a power cut.

“I have been in contact with NIE to report this. An engineer is on the way.

“My office will be unable to take calls until power is restored.”
