PSNI officers across east Antrim and Newtownabbey have praised members of the public for adhering to new restrictions imposed in a bid to tackle the spread of the coronavirus.

Police in the Antrim and Newtownabbey district conducted patrols from Rathcoole to Burnside yesterday with officers thanking residents for following the Government guidance.

A spokesperson said: “We have been conducting patrols today to ensure everyone’s safety during Covid-19.

“Our streets are empty and we would like to thank everyone for playing your part.”

Similar patrols are being conducted across Mid and east Antrim today.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “We are conducting patrols today to ensure everyone’s safety during Covid-19. Our main roads are empty and we would like to say thank you to all of you for playing your part.”
