Parking restrictions welcomed

NEW vehicle waiting restrictions have been installed by DRD Roads Service at Chapel Hill, much to the delight of Lisburn City Council’s Planning Committee.

Speaking about the recently implemented measures to improve traffic flow in the Chapel Hill area of the City Centre the Chairman of the Committee, Alderman James Tinsley said: “I am delighted that following many complaints over recent years the Roads Service has introduced a revised range of vehicle waiting restrictions in Chapel Hill. There is no doubt that this will ease the severe congestion that this area has been experiencing for many years. The Council has long campaigned for action on this issue and I feel it is a significant move towards solving the traffic problems in such a narrow street.”

The vice-Chairman Councillor Paul Stewart added: “Chapel Hill is a well known traffic bottleneck in the city centre and l feel that the majority of local businesses, shoppers and road users will find the new traffic management arrangements beneficial.”

The new arrangements installed by the Roads Service include dedicated loading bays for local businesses.
