Royal Portrush is set to be confirmed as the venue for the 2019 Open Championship on Tuesday, the Coleraine Times understands.
The R&A is expected to announce that the famous Dunluce links will be on the Open rota at intervals of eight to 10 years.
Acting First Minister, Arlene Foster, will be among the guests at the announcement as well as officials from the R&A, Royal Portrush and the Golfing Union of Ireland.
Over the past few months the course has been getting a multi-million pound revamp including the building of two new holes - as it prepares to host what many consider to be the best golf tournament in the world.
And R&A officials have paid a visit to the north coast to see how the work is coming along.
“We hope to have a long term legacy of an even better golf course and that in turn will secure Royal Portrush in the world of golf for the next 100 years,” said club captain, Sir Richard McLaughlin.
