Op Hubble: Five arrests made

Police across the North Area arrested 5 people during a major Northern Ireland wide anti-crime operation on Thursday.

Operation Hubble prioritised local policing priorities including tackling burglary, the misuse and distribution of illegal drugs and the threat posed by terrorists.

Chief Superintendent Raymond Murray provided more detail on the outcomes of the operation, which took place in Derry City and Strabane, Causeway Coast and Glens, Mid and East Antrim and Antrim and Newtownabbey policing areas.

“Three properties were searched on Thursday and three vehicles were seized by officers out on the ground.

“We also breath tested three people and searched five others under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

“The aim of the operation was operation was to prevent, detect and deter crime with attention paid to travelling criminals and organised crime.

“Our aim is to keep people safe and we would like to thank the public for their support and patience during the operation.”

Chief Superintendent Murray concluded:

“In the weeks ahead we will continue to provide a visible presence and would encourage the public to work with us and report any criminal or suspicious activity as soon as possible.”
