New book about history of town

Entitled Old Lurgan with Waringstown and Moira, it tells the story of these communities and features dozens of old photos from the early 1900s.

The book was put together by Rose Jane Leslie and Des Quail.

From small beginnings the plantation town of Lurgan grew substantially with the development of the linen industry in the 19th century and the townscapes reflect the architecture of both the Georgian and Victorian period.

This collection of street scenes and social history also includes Magheralin, Dollingstown and Maghera.

The book is on sale in Lurgan at Newell’s newsagents shop, 4 Queen Street, and at Print Business Supplies at 26 Market Street.
