Moyle District Council has hosted the local heats of the Environmental Youth Speak 2014 competition.
This is an annual public speaking competition - now in its 16th year - with topics based on environmental issues.
It is open to pupils throughout Northern Ireland from both primary and secondary schools.
All speeches from the pupils were excellent. The adjudicator was Mrs Shorna Meggitt.
The winners from Moyle District Council were Connlaoth McTaggart from St Olcan’s Primary School, Armoy, in the junior section.
His speech title was “If I was principal, this is how I would reduce waste in our school.”
The winner from the senior section was Rebecca McGowan from Ballycastle High School.
Her speech title was “How to become a more sustainable school”.
A spokesperson for Moyle District Council said: “Thanks to all the schools and teachers for encouraging their pupils to take part in this competition.
“Congratulations to both pupils on their achievement.”
Both Connlaoth and Rebecca will now represent Moyle District Council in the Regional and Grand Northern Ireland finals.
