Motorhomes issue "parked" for decision
That was the message members of Coleraine Borough Council received at last Tuesday’s meeting of the Leisure and Environment Committee.
Portrush councillor Norman Hillis raised the issue of motorhomes staying overnight at Lansdowne car park and reminded members that two years ago a meeting was held about the matter.

“We do want people to come and stay in Portrush but we do have sites for motorhomes to use for overnight stays. On the other hand if they pay their insurance and road tax they are entitled to use any car park.
“I am not sure of the legalities and from what I believe Roads Service legal department is swamped but this has dribbled on for two years.
“Can we please get an update?”
Director of Technical Services, Desi Wreath, confirmed that Roads Service confirmed that their legal department was tied up and had practically “come to a standstill”.

Cllr Hillis said: “I’m sure if I went over the speed limit I would hear from their legal department within two days!”
“They are taking the mick.”
Mr Wreath agreed to contact Roads Service again for clarification.
