In the late 1980’s, Frank McKeena Jnr and Brendan Kearney took the decision to convert Frank’s grandfathers home from The Model Farm House to a nursing home.
The old farmhouse was extended by Patton’s contractors to create a 36 bedroom unit which was officially opened in 1989 under the management of Matron Mrs Valerie Nicholl.
Since the initial ownership of Mr Frank McKenna, the Model Care Home has over the past 25 years operated under the management of Asbourne Homes, Southern Cross and is currently part of Four Seasons Health Care.
The Home has become well established and successful, known within the local area as a homely place with a good reputation for high standards of care. Currently managed by Mrs Bernadette Kelly, the homes ethos of care is to ensure that our residents reside in an environment that is safe, welcoming and comfortable while respecting their rights and maintaining their dignity.
Four Seasons Health Care wish to acknowledge the success of The Model Care Home and the dedication of their staff by presenting those who have been with the company for over 10 years with Long Service Awards and in addition recognising the academic achievements of staff who have completed NVQ awards at levels 2 & 3 in Health and Social Care.
