Minister’s Michelin meeting “highly successful” - Frew

BRAID Councillor and DUP MLA Paul Frew says he’s delighted that Minister Arlene Foster began her visit to the borough last Wednesday by calling out to Broughshane.

Ms Foster not only visited Michelin’s Raceview plant but took a tour of the village and enjoyed the opportunity to chat with people on the street.

He said: “I’m glad that she kept her commitment to me that she would come to the Constituency at this time and would meet with Michelin officials to hear at first hand the work they are doing, the vision they have and the issues and concerns they have for their future growth.

“Make no mistake, the Minister knows how important larger employers like Michelin are to the local and province wide economy and the real and tangible benefits they bring to North Antrim. It was a highly successful meeting and one which the Michelin officials welcomed and appreciated,” he said.

The Minister made her way afterwards with the Councillor to Broughshane to meet with local community representatives of the area and to hear the work that the village has been doing to improve the living standards of the people of the Braid.

She stopped off at Houston’s Mill and walked through the village to Broughshane House.

“She met with people who sacrifice so much time in order to enhance the area, to improve the area and make a real difference to the village not leaving it solely to the Government agencies. The Minister certainly enjoyed her time in Broughshane and learned a lot and was very well received,” said Cllr Frew.
