Mayor congratulates Nessie Blair

BALLYMONEY Mayor Bill Kennedy has praised Nessie Blair from Finvoy who was recently honoured in the Queen's Birthday Honours List.

Nessie was awarded for 'services to health care and respiratory services in Northern Ireland'.

Cllr Kennedy also congratulated north Antrim broadcaster Jackie Fullerton - a “good friend of mine” - on his award.

And Mr Kennedy also praised Housing Executive Chief Executive Paddy McIntyre for his award.

Mr Kennedy also made reference to others “who have made Northern Ireland proud” - jockey Tony McCoy and poet Michael Longley who were also honoured.

DUP councillor Frank Campbell also congratulated Nessie who he said works hard and nobody deserved such recognition more than her.

DUP councillor John Finlay also congratulated Mrs Blair, Mr McIntyre and Jackie Fullerton.

DUP councillor Evelyne Robinson congratulated the Mayor for his “thoughtfulness” in congratulating all the people.

She said she had met Michael Longley and read and enjoyed his poetry.

Traditional Unionist Voice councillor Audrey Patterson also congratulated Mrs Blair.
