Man is killed in A8 crash

THE Mayor of Larne has said her thoughts are with the family of the 22-year-old man who died in a three-vehicle pile up on the outskirts of Larne on Friday.

The victim, who is understood to be from Ballyclare, was killed when a silver Vauxhall Corsa, a blue Peugeot 206 and a black Volkswagen Touran collided on the A8 Belfast Road at about 11.45pm.

Following the fatal crash, flowers and messages of sympathy were placed at the roadside near the Ballyrickard Road junction.

The man’s family did not wish to speak publicly and have asked for his name not be published.

Larne Mayor, Councillor Gerardine Mulvenna said: “I was extremely saddened to hear about this tragic loss of life, especially with the victim being so young. I would like to extend my sympathies to the man’s family at this immensely difficult time.”
