Man caught without insurance

Just two hours after he found out he was not insured to drive, an Aghagallon man obtained insurance online, Craigavon Magistrates Court heard last Wednesday.

Sonny John Gorman (27), Whitehall Gate, was fined £175 and given six points for driving without insurance on May 5 this year.

He was stopped at 9pm at a vehicle checkpoint on the Annesborough Road, Lurgan, and asked to produce his documents. On June 4 he produced his driving licence and insurance and his insurance was not valid at the time he was stopped. The insurance was from 11pm on the night he was stopped. Mr Conor Downey, defending, said Gorman got insured online after he had checked he was not named on new insurance for the vehicle. He was now fully insured.

District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said it was the most prompt attention rectifying the matter.
