Londonderry to feature on Other Voices this Sunday

Highlights from the twelfth season of Other Voices from Londonderry will be televised on RTÉ Two this Sunday at 10.30pm.

The show will feature music and conversation with The Gloaming, William Doyle aka East India Youth, Hozier and newcomer Roise Carney.

Oonagh McGillion, Director of Legacy at Derry City Council said it is extremely exciting to get the chance to see the coverage on RTÉ TWO as a reminder of one of the best weekends at the start of this year to lead us into Music City 2014.

“The connection which now exists between Derry, Other Voices and Dingle is a strong and extremely workable one and we were delighted to support in partnership with DCAL, the return of Other Voices as part of our Legacy promise moving on from the huge success of the event during our City of Culture year in 2013.

“As a city of with rich musical heritage, steeped in song and musical talent, the Other Voices production brought this together and providing a varied weekend of live music events throughout the city within a range of venues,” she said.

Sunday’s programme is the first edition over a six week period in which presenter Aidan Gillen will take you on a musical trip featuring a compelling soundtrack of songs, conversations and unique acoustic performances against the backdrop of the River Foyle.

Said Ms McGillion: “As well as the main events coverage in Sunday’s programme will also feature our very own local rising stars The Clameens in The IMRO Other Room. Great to see them getting this televised coverage.”
