Community representatives from across Northern Ireland have congregated on the Peace Bridge to launch The Big Lunch 2014.
Representing the County Antrim area was Love Food Hate Waste’s Danielle McCormick, Ballycastle FutureProof representatives Philip Robinson, Norman and Julieann Perry and from Cushendall’s Cairn’s residents group Claire Getty, Margaret Anne McKillop and Anne Quinn who had just returned from a community boot camp at The Eden project, Cornwall.
Grainne McCloskey, who represents The Big Lunch NI, said: “The Big Lunch was started in 2009 by the Eden Project in the belief that we, as a society, are better equipped to tackle the challenges that we face when we face them together. Your Big Lunch doesn’t need to be anything more than a few neighbours getting together in your street, garden or even around your kitchen table.”
