Jackson is appointed CEO of new Causeway Coast Council

The new council will see the council areas of Coleraine, Moyle, Limavady and Ballymoney coming together to becoming one new ‘super council.’

Mr Jackson’s appointment marks the conclusion of a three month public recruitment process led by elected members from each of the four council areas - Ballymoney, Coleraine, Limavady and Moyle.

David has been part of the senior management team in Coleraine Borough Council since May 2009.

He currently holds the post as Head of Performance, Governance and Policy.

He was previously a managing consultant with the PricewaterhouseCoopers Belfast office.

In 2006, David was awarded an MBE for his successful delivery of a major transformational change programme.

It is envisaged that David will take up the new appointment in April 2014, after which he will work in tandem with the four constituent Councils until they converge in April 2015 to form the Causeway Coast and Glens District Council.

Elections to the new Council will take place on 22 May; during the subsequent ten months its 40 councillors will then oversee the formation of the new ‘super council’ in a shadow arrangement.

Speaking about the new role, David said: “It is an honour and a privilege to be given this opportunity to serve the 140,000 citizens of the new district.

“I love living in this wonderful area, and will do everything within my means to work with our elected members for its betterment.

“Some challenges lie ahead but the Reform of Local Government offers a real prospect to make a positive difference for the Causeway Coast and Glens.”

Mayor of Coleraine, councillor David Harding sent his best wishes to David on his appointement as the first Chief Executive of Causeway Coast and Glens District Council by saying “ I have known David Jackson over the last four years and have worked closely with him on Land and Property issues.

“I have found David to be a very committed and organised individual, and I know he shares my aspiration to create a vibrant and efficient new Council.

“I know he will bring a tremendous amount of energy to the post and this allied to his meticulous attention to detail bodes well for everyone in the new Council”
