Fundraising caffeine kick with Eurospar

Two EUROSPAR supermarkets in the Ballymoney area will host a community coffee morning next week, to raise much needed funds for Cancer Fund for Children.

Both Smyth’s Eurospar in Ballymoney and Fullan’s Eurospar in Rasharkin will hold coffee mornings on Saturday, March 25 from 10am as part of 52 events being held throughout Northern Ireland to celebrate the re-launch of EUROSPAR’s strapline, Your Community Supermarket.

As well as raising vital funds for the leading children’s cancer charity, the coffee mornings will also give local people a chance to spend time with their friends and neighbours as the supermarkets establish themselves as a hub for all ongoing activity within the community.

The events will be sponsored by Barista Bar, Northern Ireland’s leading retail coffee brand, which served over seven million cups of coffee in 2016. Thanks to events like the Community Coffee Morning, it is expected to reach 10 million cups by the end of the year.

Staff and customers are being encouraged to bring a selection of home baked goods along to the coffee morning, while each store will also serve up a range of treats from the enjoy local fresh food range. There will also be various games and children’s entertainment at selected stores.

Coffee and traybakes, buns and cake will be given out at the stores in exchange for a donation to the Cancer Fund for Children.

David Miskimmin from the Henderson Group, an area manager for Eurospar in Northern Ireland said: “Store owners, managers and staff across the EUROSPAR estate have got behind this community and fundraising initiative and it is a great way to launch the new community supermarket aspect of the brand.

“As well as taking five minutes to enjoy a cuppa with some friends and neighbours, we hope locals will come out to see what our supermarkets are all about, and most importantly, donate to our charity partner, Cancer Fund for Children to help them continue all the important work they do across the country.”

Also, commenting on the events, EUROSPAR brand manager Conor Toland explained the rationale behind the new ‘Community Supermarket’ messaging.

“At Eurospar, we are passionate about playing an active and supportive role in the communities where our stores operate. We have recently introduced a successful public access defibrillator scheme and many of our stores are involved in a range of initiatives, including sponsorship of their local sports teams, helping community groups with fundraising activities, and assisting with events within the community.

“We hope all who attend will enjoy the opportunity to get to know us and other shoppers even better.”
