Fun day for town centre

LURGAN'S 400th birthday celebrations continue this weekend with a free fun day for all the family in the town centre.

The town centre will come alive this Saturday at 12pm when the GI six piece American Show Band, the Lindy Hoppers, the Millies, and comedians Paddy and Paddy all take the stage.

There will also be an exhibition charting Lurgan’s past in the town hall.

From Majorie McCall, the lady who died once but was buried twice, to James McCabe, one of the top clock makers in the UK, Lurgan has a long history to celebrate.

There will also be an interactive exhibition and display in the town hall with weaving demonstrations and a chance to find out more about your ancestry.

Craigavon Mayor Stephen Moutray said: “We’re continuing with our range of celebrations for Lurgan’s 400th birthday and this Fun Day and Exhibition on October 9 is not to be missed. We hope that the shops and businesses will back this celebration by putting on special promotions or perhaps signature dishes in the restaurants. It’s a time for the whole town to get together and celebrate in style."
