Our story on the demolition of one of Armoy’s oldest buildings (Moloney’s pub) has generated quite a bit of interest locally with many contacting us to speak of their memories of an establishment where a drink was enjoyed in a pleasant atmosphere.

Mark Moloney, who did a work placement in the Times, and who is now working at Binus International University in Jakarta, Indonesia, wrote to us stating that his father Maurice Ignatius Moloney, ran the shop after his grandmother became unable to, and his uncle John Moloney ran the bar.

“I have fond memories of growing up in that building,” Mark said.

In the article we stated that the pub originally belonged to the Molloy family; this, of course, should have been the Moloney family who carried on a successful business for years earning a great deal of respect in the community.
