As part of ‘Open Farm Weekend’ the children and staff of Gaelscoil an Chaistil spent a full day at Broughgammon Farm for their school trip.
The children had the wonderful experience of learning about the the different animals kept on the farm including goats, chickens, cows, geese, pigs and a lot more.
Not only did the children learn about farm life, they had amazing fun planting seeds, feeding the goats, completing and egg hunt and enjoying a range of farm games provided by the staff of Broughgammon Farm.
“We decided to try and link the school’s trip this year with a learning experience which provided a lot of fun at the same time,” said principal Brídín Ní Dhonnghaile.
“We felt the Open Farm Weekend was the perfect chance for the children to share their existing knowledge on farms and to learn a lot more through practical activities and fun games. All the children had a fantastic day with some of them returning to the farm with their families at the weekend. I would like to thank the staff at Broughgammon farm for providing an excellent well structured day for the children, and I would recommend a visit to the farm for everyone.”
