From Access to PhD with NWRC: “I immediately felt that this would be a very friendly and supportive environment to return to education,” said Maureen McHenry about her decision to enrol on the Access Diploma at NWRC’s Limavady Campus, “I must admit I really enjoyed the whole learning experience but equally I really enjoyed the social aspect. The students and lecturers were just great and the team spirit was immense, in which everyone helped and encouraged each other.”
Maureen used her Access qualification to gain a place on the BSc in Environmental Science at Ulster University, and went on to gain first class honours. Maureen is now in the final stages of completing PhD in Glaciology at UU.
“The course provided a really sound basis to develop new skills which gave me the encouragement to go ahead and enrol for the degree. With each step from Diploma to Degree to PhD, I found I have developed significantly in terms of confidence and I would definitely recommend enrolling for the Diploma to anyone.”
Maureen is just one of hundreds of former students who reignited a passion for learning with a part-time course at NWRC. You can aim higher with NWRC too: www.nwrc.ac.uk/parttime.
