Driver dragged along road by car thief

The incident happened on the Drumbo Road around 9.30pm on Tuesday night.

The incident began when a creeper burglary occurred in the Summerhill Gardens area some time during the evening.

Entry was gained to the house and the keys of a silver Toyota Avensis car were taken.

Around 9.30pm on Drumbo Road man driving a blue Volkswagen Golf stopped to offer assistance to a motorist standing beside the Avensis.

The driver of the Golf went to the rear of the Avensis before the thief got into the Golf and drove off.

The driver of the Golf attempted to take the keys out of the ignition as the car drove off and was dragged a short distance. He sustained some injuries.

The man involved is described as being in his late 30s or early 40s, well built, 5ft 11 in tall with a tanned complexion and shaven head. he was wearing an orange coloured t-shirt.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed either of these incidents or has information to contact them on 0845 600 8000.
