Dragons set to descend on Antrim

Dragons will be descending on Antrim's Loughshore Park next month for the charity Dragon Boat Challenge.

The Dragon Adventure will take place on Saturday, June 11 from 12 noon until 3pm at Antrim Loughshore Park and is guaranteed to test the stamina of the competitors and promises to be a fantastic day of fun for all the family!

Along with the river race, there will be a range of family entertainment including dragon themed arts and crafts activities for children, a Chinese Dragon Dance Display, mobile fun farm and a radio roadshow.

One of the highlights of the event will be a Chinese dragon and lion dance display.

Launching this year’s challenge, Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Thomas Hogg, said: “The Dragon Boat Race will be a fantastic day out for all the family with teams competing against the clock.

“It is a great opportunity for residents and visitors to the Borough to enjoy a fun day out and for competitors to enjoy a spirit of comradeship with their team mates in aid of a good cause. Any organisation who would like to do some team building, dragon style, should get their oar in now!”

Each dragon boat team is made up of a minimum of 10 participants and the cost to enter a team is £50 per person.
