Devoted mother and grandmother

THE district has been saddened to learn of the passing of well known Banbridge woman, Mrs Emily Malcolmson, who died on Saturday, 6th February, at her Cline Road home.

A member of Bannside Presbyterian Church, Mrs Malcolmson was employed in Down Shoes before leaving to bring up her family. She was the wife of the late Joseph Malcolmson who was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident 42 years ago.

Mrs Malcolmson's hobbies included country and western music and her garden, but her main interest always centred around her home and family.

She is survived by sons Clifford (Banbridge) and Stephen (Australia); daughters Diane, Wendy and Joyce (all Banbridge); son-in-law Stevie and Garry, six grandchildren, brothers Mervyn, Billy and Ivan and sister Anna. To these and all other relatives sincere sympathy has been extended.

The funeral took place from her home for a service in Bannside Presbyterian Church where the Rev Dr Mark Gray paid a fitting tribute to her memory. The hymns 'Abide with Me' and 'Safe in the Arms of Jesus' were sung, with Mr William Chambers presiding at the organ.

The family have thanked Dr J Mallon, Dr C NcNeiff, Marie Curie nurses, district nurses and all carers for their support and help at this time.

Interment took place in the New Cemetery and family flowers were placed on the grave. Donations in lieu of flowers are being sent to William Bell and Co, Funeral Directors,23 Kenlis Street, Banbridge BT32 3LR for Macmillan Nurses.
