Cyclist left in hospitalafter beingknocked down in Londonderry hit-and-run

A cyclist was hospitalised after being knocked down on the Racecourse Road on Sunday morning, following which a bald man in his 40s drove off in a blue car with children in the back.

Police are appealing for information following the hit and run road traffic accident that occurred on the Racecourse Road in Londonderry on May 29.

At approximately 9am there was a two vehicle RTC involving a car and a bicycle.

The cyclist, a woman aged in her 40s, received injuries that required hospital treatment. The car involved was a blue people carrier. The driver did get out of the car at the time but then left a short time later. He is described as being aged in his 40s, bald, and he had children in the car at the time.

Constable Barry O’Neill said: “I would ask the driver of the car, or anyone who knows anything about this RTC, to contact police at Strand Road Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 490 of 29/05/16.”
