Commenting on the incidents, Sergeant Tony McClelland said: “Young people who choose to engage in this type of behaviour must understand it is unacceptable and must stop. People have a right to live in peace and to feel safe in their communities.

“Parents and guardians must speak to their young people about where they are and who they are with and also warn them of the dangers of getting involved in behaviour which could result in injuring themselves, others, or ultimately, a criminal record.

“Police will be stepping up patrols in the area in coming weeks and we continue to work alongside our partner agencies, local representatives and the community. I would encourage anyone affected by anti-social behaviour to report the matter to police immediately on 101.”

Independent Knockagh DEA representative, Cllr Bobby Hadden has appealed to parents.

Cllr Hadden said: “This anti-social behaviour has been going on for some time now and is involving kids from different areas who are congregating in Greenisland along with the locals.

“The police are fully aware of the situation and have stepped up their patrols in the area.

“However, they cannot be around all of the time. I would appeal therefore to parents to make sure that they are aware of where their kids are and that they behave themselves accordingly.

“If this behaviour persists, it is only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured or worse. Residents deserve to live in peace!”
