A defence barrister for a Coleraine fitness instructor accused of sexually assaulting a woman has complained about the amount of time it is taking prosecutors to bring the case forward.

Aaron John Wright (38), of Railway Road, is charged with intentionally touching the woman, ‘the circumstances being that the touching was sexual, that she did not consent to the touching and you did not reasonably believe that she so consented’.

He is also charged with assaulting her and had a third charge of causing unnecessary suffering to a dog on the same date, December 27 last year.

The defence barrister a hearing atColeraine Magistrates Court last Monday that the case is “straight forward”.

He explained that the case involved one complainant and one other witness who the complaint was made to.

The case was adjourned to later this month and District Judge Liam McNally said the progress needs to be reviewed then and prosecutors should give a reason then as to why there is a delay.
