Arrests made after police pursuit in Newtownabbey

Two men in their 20s have been remanded and charged with a number of offences including handling stolen goods and dangerous driving following incidents in Belfast and Newtownabbey.

Detailing the incidents in a post on social media today (Monday), a PSNI spokesperson said: “On September 22 officers from Lisburn Road LPT received a report of a ‘snatch and grab’ theft from a shop on the Lisbun Road. The suspects made off in a VW Golf.

“A short time later the same suspects stole again from a shop in the Boucher Road area.

“DST and ACT officers were quickly out to help and tracked down the car in the Newtownabbey area.

“A short pursuit brought the car to a stop and two males were arrested for theft and a number of driving offences.

“A search of the car and the suspects’ houses resulted in the seizure of a number of other high value items and further arrest for handling stolen goods.

“The two men, both in the 20s, have been remanded and charged with a number of offences including handling stolen goods and dangerous driving.”
