Moyle District Council is to designate Cregagh Wood as a Local Nature Reserve (LNR).
The decision was taken at last Monday’s meeting during which Biodiversity Office Rachel Bain gave a presentation on a number of environmental schemes.
Through the Heart of the Glens Landscape Partnership Scheme, Cregagh Wood was highlighted as a potential Local Nature Reserve.
It was also agreed on Monday that a project will begin to introduce conservation grazing to the Commons in Waterfoot along with some access improvement works.
Council also agreed that Agnew’s Field in Cushendall will now be cut and bailed once a year to allow a variety of grasses and flowers to return to the site. Councillors praised the work of the Biodiversity Officer.
