Council told to '˜get their act together' at Windmill Wood Dungannon

A Dungannon woman has hit out at the poor upkeep of Windmill Wood, which is managed by Mid Ulster Council

The mother, who wishes to remain anonymous, contacted the TIMES to highlight the issue following our report last week on the lack of lighting along the new Carland Road-Quarry Lane walkway.

Calling on Mid Ulster District Council - which has responsibility for the upkeep of Windmill Wood - to “get their act together”, the Dungannon woman said the area was well used by the local community despite it being overgrown by weeds and beset by potholes.

“There are several potholes on the paths, making them unsafe to walk and cycle”, she explained.

“This is part of the Dungannon cycle route but the paths are in a bad state of repairs .

“My child had a bad fall on one section of the path .

“The council know of this but have taken no action.

“You can get a seat with the weeds growing around them if you like.

“They (council) put lights in but to date they have never been on. They tarmaced the entrance to the park only to have a fire burnt on it . Dungannon council need to get their act together.”

A Mid Ulster District Council spokeswoman said: “Work is ongoing at the Windmill Wood area at present to address these issues and we hope it will be complete in the next few days.”
