Council to ‘assist’ staff who lose jobs

LARNE Borough Council will be part of a coordinated response to help those made redundant by FG Wilson, the Mayor, Cllr Gerardine Mulvenna, has said.

“We are concerned for everyone affected by these job losses and we will do all that we can to provide them with as much support as possible,” said the Alliance representative, who added that she welcomed FG Wilson’s “commitment to provide the necessary resources to assist the work force through this transition”.

“Working in partnership with the Department for Employment and Learning, LEDCOM and other bodies, Larne Borough Council will be part of a coordinated response to provide local support to complement and enhance support provided by the company,” said the mayor, who described FG Wilson as a major employer and an important element of the Larne and East Antrim economy.

“Larne is a dynamic business location and there is a dedicated partnership approach to promote economic development,“ Cllr Mulvenna added.
