Over the past year The Centre and the Association have been working together; training and guiding volunteers through an in-depth process that promotes best practice in volunteering.

Castlerock Community Association is run solely by volunteers mans and runs the Castlerock Information and Visitors Centre and the Village Beautiful Project which is responsible for the beautiful floral displays throughout the village.  The Association plays a big part in sustaining community life in the village, they organise, source vital funds for and run many social and activity events throughout the year.

The 34 regular volunteers provide on average 250 hours per month. The Information and Visitors Centre attracts 1700 visitors each year from all across the world.

Therefore coming into the busy Spring/Summer months they need more volunteers to help run this successful centre. The jobs range from meeting and greeting people, dealing with any enquiries to photocopying and answering the telephone. The role is flexible; anytime between 10am - 4pm Monday to Saturday.

Joyce Bradley said: “Volunteering here has been a great outlet for me. I trained as a secretary some years ago and I have enjoyed being able to get back to this type of environment where I can use my skills. Being a part of the Community Association is a great way for you to meet new people, develop new friendships and gain in confidence.”

The Village Beautiful Project is another area in which volunteers are desperately needed during this time of year.

Planting, taking care of the polytunnels and watering plants are a few of the jobs volunteers could be doing.

If you have green fingers, love the outdoors and have an interest in the local village then this could be the perfect role for you. Again this role is flexible; anytime between 10am-4pm Monday-Saturday.
