Civic and pastoral leaders converse at See house

LONDONDERRY'S civic and pastoral leaders met at See House in Culmore last week for an informal supper and discussions on matters of common interest and concern.

Mayor Colum Eastwood was invited to the Episcopal seat for a traditional supper organised by the Church of Ireland Bishop of Derry and Raphoe Ken Good each year for newly inaugurated civic leaders.

The Bishop said he was pleased to welcome the Mayor and Mayoress to See House last Wednesday, June 30.

Bishop Good said: "This was an opportunity to wish the Mayor and Mayoress well as they begin their year of civic duties in our city. Their role is very important in the civic life of our city and I was pleased to welcome them."

The Mayor also said he was delighted to attend and that he was greatly impressed at the warm welcome extended by the Bishop.

He said he was looking forward to working in harmony with the Bishop throughout the year.

"It's important as Mayor to meet with people of influence throughout the city and it was good to have the opportunity to meet the Bishop early in the year. I know that we have had and will have a lot to talk about over the year.
