Christmas window winners

Ruth Davidson, owner of Mulberry Cottage, accepts her prize for winning Coleraine Town Teams Best Dressed Window competition from Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Officer Julienne Elliott.

The decision was made after long deliberation, taking into account innovation, colour and appeal.

The gifts and homeware shop, located on Stone Row, is owned by Ruth Davidson, she said: “I am absolutely ecstatic to win the award for the Best Christmas Window 2016 in Coleraine. A number of people have already commented on the window and some have even popped in to say that they hoped I would win the competition. Feedback has been really great and I am so delighted to have won.”

Ruth will receive a specially commissioned award designed by artist Helen Harty which is inspired by the Coleraine Town Team logo.

Janet Barr of Dixons accepts her second place prize in Coleraine Town Teams Best Dressed Window competition from Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Officer Julienne Elliott.

Second place in the competition was awarded to Dixons of Coleraine located on Church Street while third place went to the Community Rescue Service charity shop on Bridge Street.

Coleraine Town Team Chairperson, Ian Donaghey, said: “This is the first year that the Town Team has organised the Christmas Window Competition in Coleraine and it was certainly not an easy decision to choose the top three. Mulberry Cottage appealed to all the judges and was awarded first place with a window display that created an enchanting winter wonderland. The Town Team is delighted to have commissioned bespoke awards for the top three from one of our artists Helen Harty and I’m sure all the winners will take pride in displaying their awards in their windows.” Finishing touches were added to the awards by Janet Millar from Kiso Arts who artistically inscribed the winners’ names.
