Celebrating hopes and dreams at Loreto

Year 14 students of Loreto College were joined by their parents and teaching staff for a special Mass last Thursday evening.

Celebrated by Father Raymond McCullagh, the theme of the Mass was ‘Thanks for the Adventure’.

Inspired by the Pixar film ‘Up’, and its exploration of the spirit of hope, friendship and realising dreams and promise for the future.

The Mass celebrated the friendship the students (and their teachers) have shared, something which, it is hoped, is not to be left behind as the students close the classroom doors for the last time.

There were moving and uplifting speeches from Head Girl, Rosanna McAleese, Head Boy, Conor Anderson, Head of Year 14, Mrs Catherine Doherty and College Principal, Mr Michael James.

Musical contributions from a group of talented singers and instrumentalists lent a tone of emotional reflection to the evening, which concluded with a big-screen display of photos from throughout the seven years which the class of 2014 spent at Loreto.

In the coming week, Masses will also be celebrated at Loreto College for the Year 12 and Year 13 examination classes. The schools wishes pupils sitting exams every success in their exams – and beyond.
