As part of the ‘Welcome to Excellence’ suite of training programmes, the Northern Ireland Tourist Board offer a special Gold Award to organisations who commit to customer service excellence and who have trained a high percentage (90%+) of their staff.
At the Giant’s Causeway, World Heritage Site, the warmth of the welcome and the visitor experience are very important to the National Trust.
All of the front line staff including Tourist Information Advisors, Welcome Rangers, Rangers, Retail Assistants, Catering staff and Car Park Attendants have successfully attained their Welcome to Excellence customer service certificates.
Every member of staff strives to not only meet, but exceed the expectations of the hundreds of thousands of visitors that they welcome to the Giant’s Causeway each year.
The much coveted ‘Welcome to Excellence Gold Award’ was presented to Esther Dobbin, Giant’s Causeway Project Operations Manager, at the recent Northern Ireland Tourism Awards Gala held at the Ramada Plaza Hotel, Belfast.
Esther said: “I am delighted to accept the award on behalf of the team at the Giant’s Causeway in recognition of their commitment to excellence in customer service.
“With the major project to build replacement visitor facilities at the Causeway well and truly underway, we have continued to provide access to this wonderful location and we are pleased that visitors continue to enjoy the warm welcome offered by the Causeway team.”
The Welcome to Excellence training programmes have been designed by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board to assist organisations in the tourism, leisure and hospitality industry to train their staff and provide first class standards of service to all customers.
