The party season may be officially over, but there is something to look forward to in January other than empty bank balances and wet weather.
January 25th is the traditional night to celebrate the life and works of Scottish Poet Rabbie Burns. All over the world the Scots and those of Scots descent mark the evening in keeping with how they want to celebrate their heritage.
These parties can range from refined literary occasions with poetry readings and quizzes about the life of Burns to a more generalised Scottish themed evening with readings, funny speeches, singing and dancing and off course, plenty of Haggis and Whisky.
This year, The Bush Tavern, Ballymoney, invites you to join us in our function room for a night of good food, light-hearted banter and 2 free shots of whisky!
This promises to be a fun, informal evening with traditional touches.
Guests will be treated to the traditional piping in of the haggis courtesy of local piper, Peter Jones.
Master of Ceremonies, John Breslin, will be on hand to toast the haggis and keep everyone entertained throughout the meal.
The main focus of the evening will be the Burns Supper. The kitchen, recently re-opened under new management, has designed a delicious 3 course menu for you to enjoy. The main attraction will be traditional fare of Haggis, Neeps &Tatties (turnip& mashed potatoes). Tattie Stew (Irish Stew) will be served as an alternative for the less adventurous!
Guests will also be offered a starter of Home-made Carrot&Apple Soup and a dessert of Home-made Apple Pie complimented with a side of strawberry buttercream.
Staff will make sure all glasses are charged with complimentary whisky for the toasts.
The meal begins at 7.30pm followed by music from Big Al from 10pm til late.
In keeping with the Scottish theme there will be a raffle for a 10 glass bottle of whisky. The proceeds of which will go to The Alzheimer’s Society.
Admission will be ticket only. Tickets are available now from The Bush Tavern at a price of £10. For any queries or to buy tickets you can also call 02827663862 or 07933217534.
