ROBIN Swann, the North Antrim Ulster Unionist Party Assemblyman, has urged constituents to prepare themselves for October’s big TV switchover when the analogue signal moves to digital.
Assemblyman Swann, who is also North Antrim UUP Chairman and the Party’s Culture, Arts and Leisure Spokesman, said he hoped community groups would particularly help elderly residents who had lived for years with the traditional analogue TV sets.
Mr Swann added: “October’s big switchover will be one of the biggest technological changes to our television signals for years and I appeal to constituents to ensure they are ready.
“It is especially important that our hard-working community groups, residents’ associations and tenants’ groups help elderly constituents who may not realise the importance of this switchover.
“We don’t want a situation come October that many elderly people are left with no TV to watch because they were unaware of how to get their TV sets changed over to receive the solely digital signal.”
Assemblyman Swann said more information on the important switchover could be obtained from www.helpscheme.co.uk/en/aboutswitchover
