Battle of the Atlantic eventplanned
In a letter to Derry City Council informing the local authority of the forthcoming memorial event Branch Secretary FJ. Brown advised of the plan to hold the service in memory of those who served during the Second World War.
He wrote: “We do this event every year to remember all those who gave their lives in the longest Battle of the Second World War that we might live in freedom as we do today and to remember also the part that our City played in those most difficult of times.”

Hide AdThe service will be followed by a parade and march past to the Services Club on Spencer Road where light refreshments will be served at approximately 1.15pm.
This year the service will coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Falklands War against Argentina which also pressed the Royal Navy into service.
The Londonderry branch meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month (except during July) in the The Services Club, 125 Spencer Road.
